Republican President Donald Trump was inaugurated for a second term in late January, pledging to have a big impact in government, business, and the lives of people by cutting taxes, strongly enforcing immigration law, and pushing back against liberal-minded social issues.
Now, 100 days have passed into the four-year Trump presidential term, which is a traditional time to look back at how things have gone.
And there has been all kinds of news, from the forming of his cabinet leaders to the immigration enforcement, plus the functioning of the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, and ongoing disagreements with judges in the federal court system.
The guests for this episode to discuss a host of takeaways from the first 100 Days include three political science professors from Siouxland colleges, with Julia Hellwege of the University of South Dakota, Bradley Best of Buena Vista University, and Patrick McKinlay of Morningside University.
Hellwege shares a new poll on how South Dakotans are now viewing Trump, and the others professors share the latest on polls showing Trump having a national approval rating of about 40 percent, which is historically low.
They also discuss the practical impacts of his policies, and how Americans are feeling about them.
