This week on The Exchange . . .
We talk with two Omaha physicians who treat transgender youth and adults about the new law in Nebraska that bans physicians from gender-altering surgery for minors. The law also requires state approval for doctors to provide gender-affirming care to people under the age of 19.
Dr. Jeremy Howe and Dr. Alex Dworak are Associate Medical Directors at OneWorld Community Health Centers. The both work with transgender patients and fear the consequences of the law that will take effect October 1, 2023.

Also, the long-time non-profit Farm Aid is now offering Spanish language assistance with mental health issues over its hotline. We speak Lori Mercer of Farm Aid. She works with farmers in Washington State.

And we talk with a recently-retired University of Iowa water quality researcher who has written a book about Iowa’s agricultural runoff and its affects. Chris Jones created the book from entries in his blog about water quality and the state’s ineffective efforts address the problem.

And we hear from two Morningside University professors who were honored at last weekend’s graduation.
