Governor Kim Reynolds has sent out a press release announcing that Kelly Garcia is stepping down as Director of Iowa Health and Human Services.
According to the press release, Garcia has resigned and will leave the agency next month.
Garcia has been the director of IHHS for the past six years, during which she played a significant role in leading Iowa’s public health response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Larry Johnson, Director of the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing, has been appointed to be the next Director of IHHS.
