ARTilicious: The Art of Eating

Fra Juan Sánchez Cotán

The shrimp are big at the Sioux City Art Center's annual event ARTilicious. Really. They are "we're gonna need a bigger boat" big. Even bigger is the fun, of course. The atmosphere is low key and delicious. Those who come will find themselves feted with food and drink and able to enjoy the Center's works amongst fellow gustatory art lovers.

Art lovers will be doubly pleased that the event's proceeds, coming from mere $25 tickets, will go to the purchase of a sculpture for the city's collection. Namely, the piece for which the fund will go is John Himmelfarb's Bend in the Road, part of the Trucks exhibition that has so pleased the community this summer.

Tickets for the event can be found at Hy-Vee as well as the Art Center, either the place or the site

Mark Munger first began listening to public radio as a child in the back of his Mom's VW Vanagon, falling in love with the stories on Morning Edition and Prairie Home Companion and the laughter of Click and Clack on Car Talk. Through KWIT, he was introduced to the great orchestras and jazz artists, the sounds of folk and blues, and the eclectic expressions of humanity. This American Life and Radiolab arrived in his formative college years and made him want nothing more than to be a part of the public radio world.
